Paul: You are correct, but: * No all Kapton tape suppliers provide equal quality product. [We have a buying list for Kapon tape supply.] * Applying Kapton tape properly requires technique and attention to detail.

We have do away with Kapton tape many years ago, now using the Titinium clip for GF protection during wave soldering.

It was manufactured by Qualitek for E-Vert for a long time. I don't know if they still do. Electroverts name for the material was Kleenox and Qualitek's was Super Deox. I have some Super Deox for sale. My phone number is 330-724-3333.

Is anyone having issues with fillet inspection on AOI machines due to poor toe fillets caused by exposed base metal? We're just getting into AOI now and QFP inspection is proving difficult.

I may have a similar problem at the moment with a QFP-68. Do the unsoldered leads leave a perfectly formed footprint in the reflowed solder? Do you usually find this issue occurring towards the corners of the QFP rather than in the middle of a row?
