SMT on boards with COBs

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 14 20:16:33 EDT 2005 | Bman

I know what the COB process is, and I have no intention of getting involved with that end of things. I need to know how to place SMT parts on a board with a COB. It looks like the preferred method is to place the SMT parts first, then go through th

Very fishy missing solder paste issue

If it were other machines I would suggest the possibility of air kiss blowing the solder away, but mydata's have a release to make sure the air kiss never gets too high. Unless it is not pointing 90 degrees away from the machine like mydata recommend

Baking prior to conformal coat

Hi Cecil, We using conformal coating in our manufacturing area, we did use to use Humiseal, others have been Bectron and Peters. We recentalt switched all lacquering to Peters, since it is lead free and it is a lot friendly than Humiseal. To answer

Just be Careful! We had purchased a Metcal VPI-1000 endoscope. When we began to have problems with the system, I found that Metcal had sold the product. When I asked for the current owner, I was told that could not be disclosed as the official annou

Stefan, Was this machine a Fuji by chance ? Did you buy this machine ? If so why would you or anyone buy a machine sight unseen that is "way overpriced" Just curious.. I have been told by representatives of major SMT machine manufacturers to BEWARE

SWITCHING OF WAVE SOLDER MACHINE FROM LEADED TO NO-LEAD

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 12 09:50:19 EDT 2005 | fctassembly

It is true that the SAC alloys are very aggressive to unprotected solder pots but the SN100C lead free alloy can be used in these pots IF they are not already being wetted by your SN63 alloy. FCT Assembly offers a program that includes free tin wash

To all smt neters, In many different threads I have tried to bring awareness of the dangers lead free alloys pose to the reliability of solder connections. Many times those warnings have been waved by unscientific reports (from lead free solder manu

White Residues

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 16 00:27:12 EDT 2005 | Peter

Hello, I have a question on white residues formation at wave soldering. We have recently run experiments to test the performance of various halide-free water soluble fluxes (ORH0 under JSTD-004). The flux was applied through a spray fluxer and all P

Don, I have used both fixed and reciprocating head fluxers. In my experience I prefer the fixed head over the reciprocating. I actually found that the coverage was more uniform than a reciprocating. However, the fixed head on the Sono-Tek does req

50% of seeing it in a single pass. The only time we do this is if we have a board off the line that has delaminated. We'll run a sample of boards through bare to confirm that we have a bad batch. Even if we see no failures on the bare boards, we'l
