Profiling - suspect flux burn out before reflow trouble shooting

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 10 10:25:05 EDT 2008 | gregoryyork

I guess the paste is Leaded hence the 220 Peak temp and the Sn100c is Eutectic at 227C so you need to be hotter to melt the HASL finish or you are relying on it alloying together with the paste which takes much longer. suggest running peak temp of 23

Dek 265 GSX Cognex Card

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 04 03:54:10 EDT 2008 | aj

Hi all, The cognex card in the GSX failed to boot up during power up. The card displays the dreaded red light on the diagnostics LED. I got a quote from Dek and I think I cold buy a 2nd user machine for the same price. So my question is - can I g

SMT Disasters

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 09 18:25:32 EDT 2008 | jmelson

There are temperature controllers that can be configured for a "safety stat" mode, so they blow a fuse to the main heater control if it goes, say, 10C or some reasonable fluctuation above the setpoint. It might be a VERY reasonable thing to add to y

Ms. Chunks, I am an industrial engineering student at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in Milwaukee, WI USA with many years of experience in the SMT assembly industry. By your description, an IE job with your company offers just the typ

Land size

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 22 20:14:34 EDT 2008 | stevek

It's been my experience that most flat pack land patterns have far too much exposed toe. It accomplishes nothing for the reliability of the solderjoint. And often the ends of the leads are sheared and not very solderable anyway. Anything more than

BGA process

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 11 09:37:16 EDT 2008 | realchunks

BGAs are actually easy, but proper stencil design, solder paste placement and oven profiles are a must. Especially oven profiles as this is your only indication that the inner balls have reached proper temp, since you cannot visually tell. If you g

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 14 12:55:07 EDT 2008 | arminski

I have a board with the above problem from our PCB supplier. After they applied the solder mask and run the PCB's to HASL process, the solder mask bubbled on one side of the PCB making the solder mask thickness higher and PCB looking awkward. They s

What is a good budget screen printer ?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 16 10:31:29 EDT 2008 | vms

I would recommend a mpm, some one else would say a dek and some one else would come up with some thing else. Both dek and mpm printers will take the 29x29 stencils. And you have more money than you need for one of them. Shop around and then go and

Thermal Profiling Frequency System

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 17 08:28:20 EDT 2008 | jdumont

With our last two ovens (Heller and now BTU) spanning the past 7 or 8 years I did it once a month and have never seen any issues. Reflow ovens these days with PID controllers know exactly what they are doing inside well before you run a profiler thro
