Dave Frankly, I think you may be barking up the wrong tree. Like DaveF, I suggest that the process would be horrendously expensive with masking and so on. The $64,000 question is whether what you propose will serve any useful purpose. I venture to

I am soldering a Germanium Window with a metalized rim to a Ni-Au plated kovar lid. The solder joint needs to be hermetic. I am using 80In solder washer shape preform, but am experiencing lots of voiding when x-rayed, although the joint is sealing.

We have been struggling to create an improved higher yield process for hermetically soldering a metalized Ge window to Kovar. Process utilizes flux with a Indium alloy solder preform. End use is for a dewar package. We are looking for a consultant

I have a problem we change a product from leaded to lead free, I was not involve in the selection of the new reed switch, but now we are having problems with the hermeticity in the switch, this occurs after is overmould and put to a 6 cycles in the th

The N2 would allow you to use less flux since the oxidation level will be reduced in an oxygen free environment. How about using adhesive to attach the lid?

Hi, are there any component types that are not suitable for vacuum reflow ? I've had one customer use his vacuum vapour phase reflow system on a pcb, and on 10% of the hermetically sealed accelerometers devices. the lids have popped off... Thanks Gra

it's a vacuum dewar so adhesives will eventually permeate and the vacuum would be lost. Sounds to me since I have the N2 capability, I definately should try it. I am obtaining Indium Flux and Solvent so I can adjust the activity when I start using
