Hybrid [Leaded/ Leadfree] BGA Profile

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 14 17:25:53 EDT 2006 | davef

As from previous discussions on this topic here on SMTnet, we are perfectly comfotable using leadfree component solderability protection on components with leaded solder, except BGA. Consider balling your BGA to be leaded.

Did you try tensile testing after thermal cycling? If there are any intermetalic problems between the two alloys this should show it.

Beyond Convention Routing?

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 14 12:10:06 EDT 2006 | Nevets

Looking into options besides routing for a .032" thick board with components located near edges. Has anyone ever tried water jet cutting or other technologies for a high volume, high mix environment.

I have implemented water jet into production for very high volumes (8M/mo). High mix is no problem. 707-750-1044

Hi Mike, What piece of equipment do you use? I've never heard of using a water jet to route PC boards before, but would like to do some investigating before I buy another traditional router. And why only high volumes?

Universal HSP/GSM and Unicam

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 17 16:22:29 EDT 2006 | jaimebc

Are there any users currently working with Unicam and Universal HSP and GSM? If so, what offline interface are you using? USOS or UCT-52. Was there any conflict between Universal's interface and Unicam? Thanks

At my previous employer we ran HSP - GSM lines. Some sites used CIMBridge, others Unicam. We all used UCT52, not USOS, for the HSPs. At that time we had 4796's, 4791's, and USOS 4.X on our GSMs.

Automatic In-line Depanelizer

What's out there for automatic inline PCBA depanelizer's? We currently run a semi-automatic Fancourt that a person has to stand at all day long cutting the same PCBA's. Looking for something automated. Thanks, Tim
