Thanks to all of you for the positve input, I understand that my best option, after reviewing opinions and certain studies, that SN100C is adequate for wave and SAC305 for SMT. Thanks again.

I have not seen hold size as an issue when switching Sn/Pb to Pb Free wave soldering. Trying increasing your dwell time in the wave- typical for Sn/Pb is 2 to 3 seconds. Try 5 seconds to see what you get.

60% ratio would be great start. that is what we typically shoot for with all leaded for the most part. 25 mil diameter in a 40 mil hole, works great for auto insertion as well Russ

Did the PTH barrel ends in massive copper clad ? If yes this type of poor thermal layout topside heating is often recommended.

Are you thinking for the soon to be displaced air to be able to escape out the top? Raising components wouldn't be ideal from a process standpoint.

Josh: 2222 will meet your requirements. 2221 is a companion to 2222. So, if you're going to try to get your engineers to follow an accepted standard, you might need both. Although, they probably already have both and are just playing dumb with you.

I need a stainless steel pot caoted for lead free. Can anybody tell me what compines in the U.S. do this? Thanks.

All the pumps, chimneys, innards, and what-not need to be coated in addition to the pot, eh? Many equipment suppliers have "trade-in" deals to swap original pot assemblies with remanufacturered lead-free pot assemblies.

We use the Gel Flex from MPM. Made a different base for each machine. Works well for most boards, but you may need additional pin support for larger boards. No tools, no vaccum hoses, no missprints (which Grid Lock is famous for), and best of all

Here's another outfit that makes a board support system: http://www.production-solutions.com/ The Gel-Flex may fit in a DEK. The gel blocks and pins in the kit are 4cm high. Not sure what the centernest depth (from conveyor belt to bottom plate) i
