BGA solder joint integrity

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 15 12:20:16 EST 2002 | cfraser

This sounds like it could possibly be a case of Black Pad. We have had a few issuses with this in the past as well. Who the PWB vendor? I also recommend searching the archives and doing some solder samples with nonpopulated boards

the PCB vendor is Multek in germany he made some measures about P content in Ni layer. What is the normal level of Phosporous and what is the upper limit ? thanks Romain

BGA solder joint integrity

Dear all We have since few weeks problems with BGA solder joint integrity on ENIG finish. Under relatively very flexible of the FR4, the joint breaks between ball and PWB. When we take off the BGA for analysis, some of the pads seem very flat, totaly

Here's two choices. 1 Before accepting a lot of boards from your supplier: * Print some paste on a board * Reflow the paste * Inspect the quality of the solder connection * Make a decision on accpting the board based on that observation. 2 Have yo

Pb alloy reflow temperatures and component integrity

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 22 14:59:55 EDT 2000 | Mike Naddra

What does the reflow profile look like , the question I had was surrounding the higher reflow temperature and the max temperature that lowest thermal mass components will see. Some other questions that I had were surrounding the components , what of

If the thermal mass of the products is small, a tent-shaped profile is recommended, with peak temperature around 240C. The hottest spot on board should be less than 250C. However, if the thermal mass of the product is large, such as a large server PC

Need board vendor that can powder coat integrated heat sinks

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 08 16:08:38 EST 2016 | hegemon

That might be tough. Board houses typically stick to boards. You might find a board house that already works with a vendor that can supply Powder coated heatsinks, and the Board House might integrate for you, but it doesn't sound like one stop sh
