Is anyone aware of any standard for bare board laminate for lead free assembly? We have been using IS410 with good results but not sure if maybe it is overkill and not worth the price premium? What is everyone else using?

CBGA stands for Ceramic Ball grid array while PBGA stands for Ceramic Ball grid array. Noticable difference is the substrate used , one is using ceramic and one is using BT laminate. Regards

Hello, I've ran into information claiming that ESD dissipative floor mats and laminate is not effective unless paired with ESD footwear or heel straps. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks! -OtheRuss

Since I didn't see it mentioned - Are you specifying a laminate that is considered compatible with a RoHS process? I don't mean just a high Tg but a high Td (decomposition) and CTE material such as Isola 410, FR408 etc.

We use the Isola 410 laminate. They just issued a tech bulletin on the same day (coincidence???) that we found the problem. It mostly talks about handling (i.e. environmental storage) and pre-bake operations to prevent issues like this.

Some of the blister in solder mask, normally 1 circle blister(about 1cm in Dim.) in each PCB. In addition, there are also blister in laminate, the also look like 1 circle blister(about 1cm in Dim.) in each PCB.

1 Print paste on a bare board or laminate. 2 Place components in the paste. 3 Gently invert and support the board above a table. 4 At one hour intervals, record the number of components that have fallen from the board.

MSL 3) By SAM (Scanning Acoustic Microscope) before to remove them from PCB, you could identify if de-laminated or not and the degree of delamination. Best Regards...GS

Am I missing something? Get the Laminate Sizes from your suppliers, and make your own Array Files. You might need to include tooling holes for the Fabrication house but they will surely supply you with the information that they need. This way you

Maybe much more detailed than you have available but do you know the exact prepreg number you were using in the failed units? That is one of the only similarities I have been able to isolate on my parts - I am curious if it may be the same. Thanks,
