Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 08 09:39:29 EDT 2001 | mriddle

Dear Mr. Chan, ASC International apologizes for any confusion or mis-representation you have experienced. It is unfortunate that we did not receive your email regarding local S'pore ASC distributors. If, after all this, you may still have an int

No-Clean or water

Hi Jacob, NC vs WS, what a story! No-clean paste means no-clean for your products but what a mess it makes in your reflow systems. If you are a contract maunufacturer of high volume production, then No-Clean is they way to go. This helps keep your co

Others make good points. Consider "TP-1115 - Selection & Implementation Strategy for A Low-Residue No-Clean Process" as a starting point. Remember that in-bound components and boards can be loaded with unNC res that can turn the best implemented

What's The Resolution?

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 18 19:49:45 EDT 2001 | Gil Zweig

To best visualize the factors effecting resolution, carry in your minds eye an image of a light shadow being cast on the wall using a flashlight. The size of the flashlight filament would be the analagous x-ray "focal spot" The smoothness and/or roug

Non-Waveable SMT Caps

Who is this, another Dave F ? For me theres no problem with balling and beading. I know that the boards I have with the new paste do have all whats needed for balling and beading, just one of the oldest designs with a stencil ...., oh boy, didnt

No, Im suggesting an increase in the distance between the two pads on the board. This "G" in SM-782A "Surface Mount design & Land Pattern Standard" parlance. You shouldnt fight solder balls for long periods. You should just increase the pressure

I would highly recommend that you test drive your vehicle before you buy it. Buy a test kit from Topline and have a stencil made. Make an appointment with the machine manufacturer and let them know that you come with your own boards and components.

Hi Chris, Dave F is absolutely correct in his assunption that the leads are hotter than the pads. You must profile from the pads to see the exact temperature that they are reaching. If the entire board reflows properly as you described, don't get ca

How to calculate the ROI

Thank Dave, your information was really helpful. Now that I have another few thousands of old datecode PCBs which has an Entek and HASL finished. Entek PCBs are about 6 1.5 years old and HASL boards are at 1 - 2 years old. To make it worse, s

There was a similar thread last week on SMTnet. Maybe the poster of that thread can help. Not everyone responds on-line. Check the SMTnet Archives for generalities and platitudes about PIH, although there may be some good links. Baring the obviou
