Hello there: Currently we are building our own facility for producing electronic assemblies. I had a long discussion with my colleagues concerning the ESD mats surrounding the sensitive components areas such as the pick & place machine

Hany, ESD mats, in my opinion, are very important. Why jepordize the quality of your product. We use sheets of stainless steel around all areas that are ESD sensitive and ground them to the machines. Of course they are no good unless the people st

How are you going to ground the metal sheets? You certainly don't want to leave these hard grounded; you need to dissipate any static charge over time.

well... it might be cheaper. But I think it's a bad idea. First, your operators will hate you by the end of the day with their sore feet, not to mention lost productivity. Second, safety. Even if the plates are connected to ground through a resistor

Dissipative flooring is not really "conductive" so to speak. what it does is (supposedly)dissipate charge as it accumulates on the surface of mat. Does this mat have a ground lug on it? Responses are correct, unless you can get conductivity between

Yes, "corrosion" should be on your buyers spec for ESD mats. ESD mats are another one of those sneaky little gotcha things, where it's easy to think that all blue mats are the same. Kapon tape is another one where you can't purchase strictly based

I need teoretical info for theme "Matted surface vs solder ball". Is it right that some solder pastes decrease solder balling but give matted surface after reflow? That diference between these pastes and others? Are the matted surface worse solder b
