Hello, I have to design a PCB for which the customer have the following temperature requirements: -55degC to +85degC operating temp. -61degC to +125degC storage temp. My question is: does the FR4 material meet this conditions? Which are the parame

Mike: Id hate to see you making design decisions, based solely on the discussion here, but that this would be an impetus to consult IPC-D-279, "Design Guidelines ... " and take a course on designing reliable boards. Werner Engelmaier (Engelmaier

Recommended max board temp for BGA repair

Does anyone have suggestions or observations on what my maximum board temperature should be when doing BGA repairs on an SRT? In other words, How hot is too hot? Somebody set the bottom heater on our new BGA repair machine to blow at 275 C, and our

Recommended max board temp for BGA repair

I am concerned about delamination and other modes of damaging the board itself. Am I mistaken to believe that raising the entire board to near reflow temperatures (during the repair of a single BGA) may damage the quality of the board?

CAL's word of caution is right on. We tend to stay in the 220C-225C max. temp. on our profiles, and that's because the last heads up from engineering came on a part with a spec. of 230C max. temp. We just found out that one of our old SOIC's is spe

Wave soldering preheat temperature

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 16 12:59:51 EDT 2001 | Mike R

If you will place a temperature strip on the board during wave soldering process you will get a max of 210 F or 98.8 C which is normal on the standard wave temperature. The problem on the 10% solder on the TH via hole can be caused by insufficient fl

I'm not a Wave soldering guy and my friend have asked me a question on what is the best preheat time and temperature for Wave soldering. They experiences only 10% flow up thru the PTH barrel. I've asked them to increase the temperatue to 120 Deg C. Cu

Gawd. Sure FR-4 will meet those conditions. Tg [check the fine SMTnet Archives for discussion on Tg] of FR-4 is 130F or so. Consider: * Is the delT between Tg and the upper operating [or storage] temperature acceptable for your application? * D
