ICT and specifying PCBA testing

Electronics Forum | Wed Mar 24 12:54:02 EDT 2010 | davef

Ignore the defect * Late 1990s to early 2000s => ICT * Early 2000s to mid-2000s => MDA * Mid-2000 on-ward => AOI

ICT testing to improve yields

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 20 15:26:25 EDT 2012 | davef

Are you better off with a ... * Low-end MDA ... OR * Low-end optical inspection machine ... Do you really need to check component values? ... OR Are you just checking component values to be sure that you're inspecting well?

Is the demand for in-circuit testing still high for PCBA?

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 08 11:37:09 EDT 2008 | pjc

Yes, sure. In fact in some applications ICT is coming back. Mainly due to the fact that more and more SMT discrete components have no markings, so AOI cannot tell you if you have the correct value on the PCB. Fixed pin or flying probe ICT is a valuab

Pretty much everybody does functional or system test at the end of a printed board assembly line. In-circuit or MDA test hits most complex boards. But, 3D xray is being pushed by Agilent, Teradyne, and TRI. No fixtures and a high call rate for sol

Incircuit Testers

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 19 14:17:31 EST 2003 | John

Does anyone have experience with Test Research Incorporated MDA's and incircuit testers? Has anyone worked with Test Pro Systems on such a project? Can you make any recommendations from your experiences in selecting incircuit testers? Thanks John

Here's your test definitions [clipped from the dictionary in the fine SMTnet Library]: * Test, Automated. Computer controlled electrical testing of parts, assemblies, or finished products. * Test, Built-In (BIT). An electrical testing technique whi

ICT and AXI are two different methods for MDA. ICT checks component values and polarity- component and circuit electrical testing while AXI checks solder joints- volume, voids, bridging, etc.... Typically, AXI is in the SMT process engineering and QA

advice on selecting ATE/ICT

Electronics Forum | Sat Sep 22 23:57:53 EDT 2007 | accurex

The selection of Test equipment primarily should be driven by the requirement of fault spectrum you would like to capture. If you are looking at Manufacutring defects MDA/ICT would do the job, if you would like to cover the functional aspect a combin

| | Good Day All!! | | I hope ya'll had a decent weekend, I did...didn't do a damn thing, I like weekends like that. Anyways, the big guys here are thinking about buying a "Flying Probe" tester, and the G.M. came to me and asked what I thought of the

John: It's easy to put parts in the wrong place!!! Isn't it? Starting at the beginning: check the part at incoming inspection ... measure the value upon receiving the part, if it's possible. Verify the marking on the part. Next: Prevent things f
