I suggest you look at the IPC/EIA J-STD-001C. It provides 3 different yardsticks depending on the end use of the equipment. Class 3 became the de facto military standard in Noth America since MIL-STD-2000A was withdrawn. Bob

Paul, We are applying the paste flux to the bga. We have a plate that has a 4mil step that we squeege flat and then dip the BGA into the flux. The BGA's that we are using are new components.

The smallest component we use is 0402. Solder paste is Kester 256. Printer is MPM Ultraprint 2000. Stencil is 6 mil. I didn't here anything bad (rework or whatnots) in terms of soldering of those components.

I get always a lot of evaluations including results from Solder Spread tests, but it seems everybody creats his own test methode. Is there a official Standard or test instruction for Solder Spread Testing such as IPC, MIL, DIN... Thanks Chris
