I'm looking for comparison data on MTBF for solder joints meeting IPC Class II vs Class III.

Equipment Selection - Maintenance History

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 27 12:22:34 EST 1998 | Sanjay Bhatikar

Sirs, what would be a good way to judge the reliability/robustness of a stencil printer or chip shooter? Does any equipment supplier specify detailed maintenance schedules? Is there a source of machine failure data (MTBF, etc.)? I not

Multiple reflow cycles

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 20 14:17:39 EST 2003 | MA/NY DDave

Hi I don't think I will enter this too much except for one of your questions. YES multiple reflows affect reliability. Heck most everything affects reliability. Aggressive Heat cycles or Heat always affects the final MTBF reliability number. The

IPC Class II and Class III reliability

Electronics Forum | Tue Apr 08 16:03:29 EDT 2003 | jonfox

MTBF is hard to nail down raw data based on whether or not it is classified as IPC CII or CIII alone. Given that most failures are environmentally based, you might be able to get this data for CII and CIII in similar environmental testing situations

IPC Class II and Class III reliability

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 10 15:20:35 EDT 2003 | MA/NY DDave

Hi DaveyF, Thanks You see, you proved my point, with piles of more information than I gave. Based on Application rather than design and manufacturing specifications, a lower IPC class can out perform another. So our starting Poster must look at t

Reflow oven reliability?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 10 08:51:43 EDT 2012 | donkudner

How often do you have to replace the blower motors? I will ask the oven manufacturers what the average MTBF is for their blowers. We have numerous BTU's and I don't think any of them have required replacement before 8 years (single shift). Once they

Looking for Procedures for SMT repair

I am looking for a quickly obtainable procedure on the repair of SMT boards. I am particularly interested in discrete components, such as capacitors and resistors. I need to know the importance of pre-heating the board and components. What is a good
