I have been in the process of setting up a Quad 2C that lost its mod codes myself. Have you cleaned the glass encoder strips for X and Y? I was getting alot of motor errors until I cleaned them and I believe it was the error 4. Hope this helps.

First, SIR data is heavily dependant on the test pattern selected. Be very careful when comparing the results of resistance readings taken from different geometric patterns. Second, if yer talkin': * Bare boards, yupper. * Finished assemblies impor

Has any one experienced hand soldering through hole components to white tin plated PCB's using no-clean wire solder? Our facility is presently evaluating white tin vs Sn/Pb coatings. Our only difficulty at this time has been hand soldering of wires

Yes dendrites can cause electrical shorts. The first stage of dendritic growth is a dark fern like pattern which reduce surface insulation between anode and cathode. In a more advanced stage the ferns transfer the plating metals of the conductors and

Ajit, How clean is clean? Are you running fine-line, fine-pitch; COB, BGA, Flip-Chip; making high rel circuits and putting them into a hostile environment? Well, as I have just posted to an earlier similar question on the SMTNet, there is no such thi

Hi DaveF, To explain. The BGA that we have is from Motorola. The solder balls of these BGA's are Eutectic Solder and processed using a NC flux (as per info from supplier). So this means that the BGA pad and solder connections had NC flux process. W

Patrick, you are right. I am sorry. It is a Water based flux. (We have another no clean flux indium 3592 that is used in our leaded process. It is alcohol based and had their base confused) Chunks, yes, this has always been a problem. If ther

I have had Selective issues such as yours on two very different Selective Solder Machines. I was able to eliminate these issues by using Alpha EF-9301 wave flux with any SAC305 solder. It's a more aggressive flux, but really made the difference. Anot

Hi Dave, To close-loop or not to close-loop, that is the question I can not speak for all machines, but in our case, close-loop systems are actually less costly to operate than open-loop systems (we make both). First, determine the volume of wate
