I've seen this before. I had a CP6 doing this for a while, replaced the nozzle springs with ones wound the opposite way from the fuji ones. replaced the springs with these and never had the problem again. you can get them from Ritchie precision eng

Pretty new to this... How long should you expect nozzles to last? I'm noticing that they're continually clogging with solder paste, leading to TONS of bad picks/rejections. How often should I expect to be replacing them, and why are they clogging

Thanks for the reply. Like I just posted to the other replier, this is only a problem with 10MPF nozzles picking 0603 components off 8x4mm feeders. Feeders are all taught properly, and pick position is usually off by

When you place 100's of 0603's and don't want to spend the $$ on re-work. Spending an extra bit of cash on nozzles looks pretty attractive. Besides I'm placing 0603's close enough together that the 08 won't work. D

Good point [engguy], and another thing; if you are using 1.3mm nozzle on a feeder that has a shutter opening of 1.0mm = problem. You could even damage the nozzle. So the main questions remain....

I don't know what machine type you have or what the nozzles look like but we use a standard nozzle with an I.D. of either .8 or 1.5mm. We rotate and pick up the part somewhat slowly.

I have a Universal GSM which won't change nozzles from the changer. It says something along the lines of "timed out waiting for air pressure to build". Even though it has around 100PSI air pressure. Any ideas how to solve this? Cheers

So what is happening to these nozzles? Are they sliding off of the compliance assy?, getting dinged? Have you contacted dynatech SMT about this yet?

That I can do, checking the placement height that is and the clamps. I believe my clamps are 4mm. If your nozzles have survived 5 years how many placements is that...roughly? In the billions?
