High Mix/Low Volume Part Kitting

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 22 15:15:59 EDT 2005 | PWH

Can I please get some opinions on the best way to kit/present parts to the SMT line for high mix/low volume board manufacturing? We currently kit builds using a scrap rate assigned to different package sizes. It is O.K. but could use some refinemen

ERSA versa as alternative to wave soldering in low vol high mix

I agree with cmiller on almost everything except the fluxer. I have not found that to be the slowest part of the process. On a slightly populated board, preheat will be the biggest cycle time killer. On very highly populated boards, time spent at the

We are having problems with a 1210 cap moving as far as a 1/4 inch from its pads during reflow. We have verified the placement before reflow. They will tombstone some of the time. There are smaller and larger parts around this location and none of th

It's quite a big cap so try taping over about 25% of both apertures to restrict the volume of paste printed then see what happens. Also, is anything interfering with the part during placement? or are you 100% sure it's going into the oven ok? if no

I just noticed that you mention 2-5mm off, that is huge! It would seem to me that there is an external force here to move a part that far. Things such as a heavy air stream that for some reason is really hitting this part, something on the PCB unde

Lead free component VS vision on Mydata MY12

Thanks Avalancher. I had no clue about the fact that Mydata could analyze part for me. Since I'm in montreal it's hard and expensive to get a Mydata guy up here but sending the parts down there would be an great inexpensive solution. I've been over t

What is the lifespan of your SMT machines?

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 18 21:40:41 EST 2005 | mika

We had some experience that some of our old machines went over 10 years. In this case the machines became to be obsolete. The machine manufactories in most cases, is only required to handle spare parts during this period of time. This is what I am be
