why not use "flash Au plating"? its supposed to be somewhere in the thin layers of 3-5um Au thickness... then again I never used it before either, might want to check with your original parts supplier is this feasible?

While they're '50 pitch', you need to think of 0402 as fine pitch parts. So, ENIG, imm silver, and imm tin finishes and probably OSP would be good choices. Stay away from HASL.
