Re: BGA coplanarity

John, There is one process issue that occurs with the larger BGA packages which have coplanarity near the high end of the .2mm spec.. The defect is commonly referred to as "ball in cup" and "head in pillow". It is an open solder connection whereby th

The easiest way to do without special tools is to use level. Check machine co-planarity on the conveyor rails in both directions(you can do that with rails down or rails up or both). Then check co-planarity on the stencil. If the level shows the sam

Hi Experts, I am interested in having a tool or process to measure coplanarity between the PCB pushed-up in the printing process and the Stencil. Therefore having a way to calibrate them.

What I mean is.... What Brand and Model should I buy to measure coplanarity between this 2 surfaces that could measure micrometers of difference I think that normal bubble levels are not precise enought for this use ^^

Of course, the more accurate the better. However, it might be a challenge to calibrate with really precise one - still better to take your time and do it right. Good luck!

Considerations for placement of Altera ultra-fine line BGA

I am looking at placing a Altera BGA device that has a .45mm Nominal Ball Dia. with a .8 spacing c-c between balls. The PCB will be gold plated so co-planarity should not be an issue. Interested in suggestions that may assist producability when pla

Hi Bart, thats much to high. If that would happen to me my boss would tear my head off. For improving the yields you must find the cause for the soldering problems. What are the symptoms? What could be the cause for the symptoms? Could be design pr
