Forum: Has anyone experience conformal coat peeling after HASS and the failure mechanism being low surface energy attributed to the solder mask?

If it's soldering, you have good plating.

Hi So Steve, I must have missed something from your last subject topic. "solder fillet peeling" Are you saying you or they, Ultrasonic Clean for 20 to 30 minutes after soldering and that is suspected as causing the cracking at the top of the compo

You should see a coarse silverish / grayish coat on the termination that indicates that it soldered. We have to opinion [don't know] about the strength of solder connection versus the strength of component terminations.

It's definately soldering because the fillet is pulling the solder plating (I believe, from what I can see under available magnification) off of the termination, and some of the nickel plating as well.
