It depends on the type of iron. Some of ours have a little plug you pull out that exposes a pot that you tweak to make the temperature of the tip the same as the reading. Others can't be adjusted and the heating element must be replaced if they don't

We have a 3/6 Nozzle We do have monitors. One of our pots is leaded, the other is lead free. Our average wave height is ussually around 50%. Also, do you have any or found any benefits to removing nozzels at the end of your shift. I recall you say

The guys at Honda on the east coast use a potatoe rub. They rub the pot be for solder isadded. Clainm they can reduce drosses that way. Funny how spuds and solder are so close to each other on The Forum here. Prolly explain why they let potatoe f

We are going to convert a Leaded Wave machine (EMS Stallion) to Lead Free. Can we just empty the pot of leaded solder, run it with pure tin for a bit and then put in SN100 bar? What's the score with SN100? Oh and does anyone have any paperwork for

On a wave solder pallet, we'd expect the metal parts that go through the pallet to be warmer than the pallet material, but we don't expect them to be warmer than the solder. We don't expect a well made board to blister at soldering temperature. So,

Thoughts are: * 215-220 temperature at the leads is not real hot for leaded assembly. * It's peculiar for component leads to dewet. Sometimes non-wetting occurs along the edge of the lead where the lead is not plated. * How do the leads of a removed

Sounds like the Pin in Paste would be a reflow technique not involving a pot. I'm guessing however the same causes are in play, in that the poorer wetting of the Pb-free allow means it drops out of the joint before it can wet to the terminal. We us

Well, since you've gotten no takers, we'll launch in to this with careful analysis and introspection, fully aware that we're likely to get 'blasted' for any number of reasons. The most critical parameters to monitor for proper wave solder machine pr

Check out RPS Automation. We have had good results with their selective solder machine that we purchased 1 year ago and they have wave nozzles as well in the 4-8 inch range. Changing from a selective solder nozzle to the wave nozzle takes only a fe
