Hi Guy's thank you for the Info, This is a New Assembly house that our OEM has Moved to and they have not been very open in discussing this issue other than they are telling us this is board related. I have ask for samples of faild product with th

Expanding my skills

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 26 14:04:59 EDT 2004 | Mike Arman

I've been an electronics hobbyist for many years (almost 50!, that's scary), and I'd like to expand my "skills set" to include being able to work with SMT components. I know I'll need some sort of magnifying viewer, 35x has been suggested. I'll also

Oven for lead free...???

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 02 05:28:24 EST 2004 | rlackey

Hi Chunks, That would be due to Mr Dumont asking for recommendations on types of ovens! Yes, I agree paste is a major factor, as is type of board (size, construction, palletisation, heat requirements etc), but also real experiences from users help

Lead free component problem for VCO

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 09 22:43:39 EST 2004 | Fengang

Hi all, Yesterday I met a VCO(Vector-Controlled Oscillator) supplier, who provided the component spec -- peak temperature over 240 centigrade stands 7secs. But this spec is obviously different from our spec -- 260 centigrade 10secs. They told me th

Wave soldering equipment??

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 09 09:51:34 EST 2004 | russ

One of the things that I have found is the "benchtop/lab" type waves (Low cost) do not perform very well except on the simplest of products, they are lacking critical design elements such as adequate preheat length, laminar flow nozzle design, etc.

Stencil Thickness

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 15 16:20:48 EST 2004 | darby

I read with interest in September Circuits Assembly magazine an article entitled "Reducing Variation Through 'Intelligent' Stencils. In this the authors propose that by REDUCING stencil thickness from 0.005" to 0.004", the paste deposit volume will I

Stencil Thickness

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 15 18:03:28 EST 2004 | russ

I have used both 4 and 5 mil stencils for 10 mil round apertures. We don't have volume measurement capability but we measure height and the 4 mil appeared to have more paste and better uniformity from a visual standpoint than the 5 mil. The unfortu

MyData tool damage

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 05 10:55:12 EST 2005 | OverTheHill

WOW Sr.Tech, 40K worth of bent tools? I'm about ready to be sh*t canned because of 1K's worth. As for trimming the mags, the product is running fine (many boards) and then out of nowhere the tool bends, so I assume my PERFECT operators trimmed the ma

Mydata Agilis Feeders

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 11 13:27:43 EST 2005 | dorklover664

I think with any feeder your going to loose parts. After running the five most popular pick and place machines all I can say is, TAPE. Have your operators tape the reel after they remove it from the feeder. It coasts more in ESD tape and its a pain

MYDATA Myspeed software is total junk

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 12 12:06:55 EST 2005 | Grant

Hi, The MYDATA is a very flexible machine, however it's slow as a chip shooter, and really needs Myspeed to work to get as much speed as possible. It's also wasteful to get chip placement speed because you need to repeat feeders of the same componen
