I guess the first thing to look at is the temperature. We had to heat more for QFP256 on sample boards and we saw discoloration on some small parts. Just try to sense around when profiling to see what's there.

This is as much a question of the forum as it is a response, but a small batch oven with programmable profiling, quick response and forced cooling sounds ideal. My question is do they even exist, and if so are they cost prohibitive to the market tha

TMC, I yoinked my requisition for the oven per your response. I've gotten so caught up in other things I forgot to ask about thermal profile data. Thanks for the reminder and excellent suggestion.

Hoss, that's what we do here. Slotted Durastone bars is all it takes unless the board is big enough to require a center support

We've talked about this previously on SMTnet. Search the fine SMTnet Archives. For instance: http://www.smtnet.com/forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Message_ID=17463

Sorry, If you need to do this, I would run a high temp alloy in the first side and then a lower temp on the second side. Components must be able to withstand the high temp process for the first side. Russ

Hi, I might have misunderstood your question but as far as I am aware a Leadfree Reflow Oven is exactly the same other than the adjustments required for your Profile... aj...

Do you really need to have that shape of profile, why not have a gradual ramp then spike? Which paste are you using?

Temp stickers work fine but a temp profiler gives you more useful data. The topside temp depends on the type of flux you use Look at the flux spec sheet or ask your flux supplier. Patrick
