They have there strong points and weak ones. I have worked with them for the last 5 years and have seen some flakey problems (Cables, feeders, encoders) that will cause you some down time but if you get a good price on a system it might be worth it.

Has anyone had any success with placing BGAs with the Quad QSP-2? We have been having alignment issues with BGA placement but our placement of 0402 parts is dead on. We have worked through the calibration and it seems to be correct.

Quad4C's have their moments. If the price is right and you are aware of the machines limitations then you will be satisfied. The placement rate is slow, 1.2 seconds/chip. Don't buy any Quad if it has the CyberOptics Laser unit, the Quadalign unit is

Additionally, I have seen the bad align error from incorrect pickup Z. Quad align can freak out sometimes if it sees something it doesn't like. If all else fails I just reboot and 99% of the time the problem goes away.

I have seen the bad alignment error many times and never had to replace the head for it. It usually has something to do with the laser windows being dirty or cracked. Also it could be your profile settings. Make sure all of these things are perfect b

Just a slight correction....the quad align card is located at the back rear right of the machine (in a cage). If it is a cyber-optics 4c machine....the laser align card is in the front card rack to the far left.
