Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 15 15:34:17 EST 2008 | dyoungquist

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I got pulled off onto other projects and was not able to work on the solution to the problen until recently. The solution we have come up with is to change from no-clean flux based solder paste to water sol

0.031 pcb bowing -- solutions?

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 27 12:51:32 EDT 2012 | cobham1

I have run 0.031 boards. One of the things you may want to look at is the speed of the oven. With 14 zones you may be going to slow with the board which could be the reason your boards are starting to bow. You might also think about adding stiffners

Moisture sensitive ICs in repairs/refurb

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 07 10:02:01 EDT 2013 | sarason

In thirty years of Electronic service I have never had problems with moisture in boards when hand soldered. I have worked on boards in boxes for defense through industrial control, joy rides etc. Sometimes they some back buried in half an inch of dus

High Melting Point Solder with alloy composition of 93.5 Pb 5 Sn 1.5 Ag

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 25 08:15:54 EDT 2014 | jax

With a melting point of roughly 300°C, you would need to have the product see temperatures peaking around 325°C at a minimum. (I would make sure the components and PCB materials can withstand these temperatures) Most convection ovens do not go over 3

BGA Rework (Top side heat only!)

Electronics Forum | Sat Mar 28 06:59:03 EDT 2015 | robertwillis

I would agree with the comments so far its much better to have some pre heat. You have not explained why bottom side preheat is a problem. Even having some input will help balance the process. Assume there is some thing on the back side that is a pro

Does anyone have experience retrofitting a HELLER oven to a lower voltage?

Electronics Forum | Sat Sep 26 02:09:39 EDT 2015 | aemery

Proc My field service back ground included Electrovert so I know reflow electrical quite well. I've worked on Heller, Conceptronic and Vitronics over the last few years and really there isn't a huge difference if you can read a schematic. I checked

Buying a new Reflow

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 26 06:16:02 EDT 2019 | spoiltforchoice

We have enough volume/oversized products that batch vapor doesn't quite work. Once you move into the quasi inline or fully inline vapor system they become eye-wateringly expensive. Plus you get an entirely new process to learn, potentially increased

SMD Moisture Sensitive Devices - Baking using vacuum-bake oven - seeking clarification

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 31 17:24:53 EDT 2019 | slthomas

Sorry I can't really answer any of your questions, but I'm curious about your idea. I've done vacuum drying of implantable medical components (made mostly of a proprietary bio-absorbable composition) but never electronic components. You're right to
