Hello all, Do you have any written rules to your purchasing team how many extra parts to buy based on package/price? I am trying to set some rules, as we are seeing terrible setup condition caused by wrong quantities buy.

It's more about how difficult to handload the those extra parts at the end of kit. i.e. big size connector, doesn't require extra. Micro parts like QFN, QFP would be depend on the kit size; under qty of 50, 1 or 2 extra would be good. If qty over 1

Tom, my thinking was more towards base it on size and package definition rather than base it on work orders. If work order requires 10pcs 0201 resistor, having 12pcs on hand doesn't do the job. If it is 50mmx50mm BGA, then 1 extra piece on each 100p

We have it set up in our ERP system. When it produces the Work Order it adds whatever extra parts we say. And we have a relatively inexpensive system I would think most systems for electronic manufacturing would have that ability. A few lifetimes
