Add some orange juice! Seriously, with a high PH adding almost any form of acidic soluble material will bring it down Russ

We have an automatic washer that is using DI water in the final rinse for stainless steel surgical tools. Is this practical. Will it extented the life of the tools or just remove spots?

We use water soluble paste, Kester R560. These units are wave soldered and cleaned in an Electrovert Aquastorm water wash with a 3% Kester saponifier solution in the first stage.

Aqueous cleaning solutions using saponifiers and surficants can sometimes be used to clean NC flux residues. Search the fine SMTnet Archive for background and supplier suggestions.

KS: You're correct. The standoff on a 1.00mm and 1.25mm BGA is high enough to allow cleaning. The standoff on 0.8mm BGA does not allow proper cleaning, even with saponifiers.

We've only seen it done by accident, and the result was a lot of white flux residue. You do need to make sure you get it all off, and to do so most likely means using a saponifier like sara suggested.

We are using an inline aqueous washer with saponifier to clean smt assemblies with rosin based no-clean solder paste. Looking for a reliable, cost-effective way to monitor the cleanliness of the assemblies after cleaning. Any recommendations?

You need to switch to an alcohol based stamp. It will work cause that's what we use.
