Hi Steve, Could it possibly be a coplanarity problem? I have assembled hundreds of SMT connectors at a Flex house and we found quite a few coplanarity issues. In many occurances, the connector showed symtoms that you are describing. Good Luck Chri

Yes, The feeder graphic shows the leads at 180 degrees. The part is in the reel at 180 degrees when feeder is mounted on front side. The component graphic has the leads at 0 degrees. All parts are comeing from the same reel.

I saw it while I was at APEX. It was runnng pretty nicely at the show. But we don't have the budget for more equipment, yet. What did you think of it?

We see this sometimes but I have found it to happen based on how fast the solder is cooled back into a solid. Pull strength test and thermocycling show no problem with solder joint integrity.

Blind vias are just that. They do not show on the surface sides of the pwb.
