Make sure that your mesh conveyor drive chain is not jumping a sprocket tooth. This will cause the conveyor to "pop" and you will have skewed parts. I seriously doubt that it is your profile causing skew. It is more than likely something mechanical.

Most of the time, we have very few skewed parts so I feel comfortable about the processes in general. However once in a while, often enough to throw off the first pass yield, we will get a few boards with a lot of skewed parts. By skewed I mean that

We are experiencing a fair amount of skewed components, mostly 0805 resistors and capacitors, during the reflow process. We have pretty much ruled out the pick-n-place and have determined that it may be happening because of variables at the paste scr

Your link doesnt work. It gives an application timed out message. Pads on the board that are too large or spaced improperly for the component usually cause skewing. Tombstoning and skewing are first cousins. Look here: http://www.smtinfocus.com

For reflow, low soak time and low peak temperatures will help reduce the number of components skewing Search the fine SMTnet Archives. For instance: http://www.smtnet.com/Forums/index.cfm?fuseaction=view_thread&CFApp=1&Thread_ID=6071&mc=15

I prefer mine skewered with a remoulade, yum. IPC-A-610 allows component side overhang to the lesser of either up to 25% of the component termination width or up to 25% of the width of the pad for Class 3 devices. Help us understand your problem.

Transistors? Are you referring to SOT-23 packages? Are the solder paste and part properly registered before reflow?

Thanks. *We use TO252 package, but sometimes the skewed components also happen on TO263 package. *we use TO252 package parts from different suppliers, and when we change the parts from one supplier to the others, few skewed transistors happen again. *
