Hi, I would like to have information about means to improve the stability of a SMD-Line: indeed the variation of the daily performance is too important (between 50 and 250 ppm). What is the solution to reduce these variations? climatisation, other re

There is nothing inherently wrong with voids in solder connections. They: * Do indicate that the reflow soldering process is not well controlled. * Can comprise the strength of the solder connection. Look here: http://www.smtinfocus.com/smt_failure

Defect rate is a variable that is hard to evaluate from company to company. Look into solid solder deposit which will eliminate smd scrap/defects all together, no matter who assembles it. http://www.sipad.com mk

Hello Carl, Is the 220-A chemistry from Smart Sonic aqueous or a solvent? What do you plan to do with the waste water (solvent)?

Hi , DEK S'pore came out with a univeral frame called 'vector',that the stencil can be removed from the frame and soak into solvent for effective cleaning. RGDS JOSEPH

Thanks for the replys'. So are you saying that SMD adhesive contains a flux agent?, because at this point in the process the boards have no solder on them at all, it's all done at a solder bath after the chips have been bonded.

OK, here is stupid question #..... oh, I lost track. While looking at a BOM I notice a lot of parts with "SMT" in the description. This is obviously Surface Mount. What do "SMB" and SMD" mean? I just know I will feel stupid when I read the answer.

Tell us what the rest of the descriptions are. for example SMD can mean surface mount device or if they are decribing a tant cap it probably means "D" or 7343 package, I see diodes labeled as SMB, SMA, etc.. which also relates to size. So who knows?

In that context the "SMB" and "SMD" refers to the package or "case" type the mfg. uses. See the component mfgs. data sheet, last page usually that shows case outline drawing. These are usually avbl on the mfgs. website in a PDF.
