Agreed, I just bought a Electrovert Vectra Elite and have been very pleased with it thus far. I got the dual pot option for lead free changeovers and that has worked great. I can change pots in under 5 minutes, not counting the time to warm up.

Yash Sutariya's paper [ http://www.saturnelectronics.com/docs/Getting_the_Lead_Out.pdf ] does a good job of describing the benefits and limitations of popular LF solderability protection coatings.

Your cost savings will be minimal over-all, depending on how many shifts you run. You cost saving will be zero if you use the timer on your machine. If the power goes out for a couple of hour during the night, your pot will be cold the next morning.

Nope, not at all. Uh-uh, no did not say that. Just had a lot of power outages here at nite that mess with the timing if you use the timer.

Huss, Great conclusion to what I believe to be a record thread (in hits and responses). Some people just have too much time on their hands.

With the added bonus that the glue from the gluegun will form a natural barrier on top of the solderpot which will dramatically reduce dross build up. Shouldnt we get this patented Chunks?

Placement is fine... There are other fine pitch components on the board which are fine. It is a 2up panel - one will be fine and the other might be shifted. Alternates between boards. aj...

Chris, Some knucklehead named HOSS asked the same question a couple weeks ago. All he got in return was crickets. Rock on!
