Specifying Surface finish on a BGA Module

ENIG is a common solderability protection on BGA packages. Pd/Ni/Au while more expensive could have advantages over ENIG in the following area: * Allow both gold and aluminium wire bonding * Better solder resist compatibility (63C max) * Might take

Hi Rob, Yes I agree with everything stated. Lots of things can cause this. I have gone over everything mentioned in your response. The thing is, I could do a simple drag and had no issues, then a few bridges then more. So I have checked everything, m

Jacky: Therere major four factors that affect the reliability of a solder connection. 1 Design of the connection including the shape and height of the lead and the type and amount of solder. 2 Dissolution of base metals into the solder connection.

surface mount connector, disturbed solder

I have a small board with some chips and 2 connectors (1 large and 1 small) with gull wing leads. The large connector has some "disturbed" solder joints per my QA people. These joints are toward the ends of the connector, not toward the middle. Th

Scratches on BGA solder resist

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 28 07:40:26 EST 2007 | realchunks

Hi Roderick, Guess it depends on how you define "minor". If it is just a visual blemish in the mask, there will be no affect o the BGA. If it is through the resist there may be a chance of solder shorting, which will affect it, I doubt it but poss

CK: I hear you about pads. Most secondary side SMT pads are primary side SMT pads that are on the secondary side. This only matters when boards are wave soldered. Rather than changing to larger components, consider a bigger fight than that ... ge

Hi Bukas, thank you for taking the time to respond. My flow gauge shows 35 SCFH and the pressure is around 50 psi. Maybe the flow gauge is wrong? Thanks again. What delivery pressure do you run, if you run a selective solder machine? Thanks again. I

Looking for a source for extruded pins

I am looking for a source of metal pins. The rough dimensions are 0.500” long, and 0.025” x 0.025” square. They will be soldered to circuit cards on both ends, so must be a solder able metal. No special needs in the strength area, i just need a good
