You could comprimise on the E-Fab stencil and buy a laser cut nickle, it will have similar release characteristics to an E-Fab and only costs $600, they can be purchased from Stork Veco, they are located in Europe.

Don't toss them the cost is crazy on this. I would send a tube in to get evaluated and talk to the maunfacturer than go from there.

Also concider if you will be going lead free in the future as conversion can be a added expense. You may think about learning and going lead free from the begnining as the indestry is rapidly moving in this direction.

Been loading lead free (steel, bismuth) for a couple of yrs. now. Our Wildlife division went ROHS on the waterfowl hunting some time ago. So now we just wound geese and ducks and let them die somewhere that they are of no use except coyote food!

if the problem is wetting change the flux type. have you tried adjusting the temperature of the wave? if your getting 100% wetting id decrease the wave temperature, or try a flux that is less active.

I had one machine converted 3 years ago. The cost was $30K (US) but that included a total refurbishment because the machine was not cleaned and maintained well.

Here's an article, which highlights the option your looking for as a new trend. You will have to do your homework in flux selection and find one that works for both processes. http://smt.pennnet.com/Articles/Article_Display.cfm?Section=Articles⊂secti
