Steps to Convert SAC305 Wave Solder Pot to SN100C

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 01 10:30:33 EDT 2008 | stepheniii

Be sure to peel the potatoes. I saw a guy use a potato to purify gold on the TV show Rough Science. Seriously though I would think SAC305 to SN100C wouldn't be as bad as eutectic to leadfree.

SN100C Selective Solder Voiding

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 12 10:58:56 EST 2008 | ck_the_flip

Jim, We are experiencing voids, also at Selective, on a transformer with known flux residue issues. The supplier told us they were using a OA, or RMA flux which has to be cleaned, and we accepted these parts anyway. How does the "separation speed

looks like my knowldge preceeds me again. I woud try a different flux. If it doesn't work - it will take a question mark away and your one step closer to total success.

Hot Bar Soldering

Yes I agree with Emil that the Jig/Fixture design is crucial for alignment. The hot-bar machine I worked with came with a digital camera and monitor to aid with alignment. Other than that, the right profile (heat, pressure and dwell), and a good fl

Solder Paste Flux corrosive?

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 16 11:09:42 EDT 2009 | clampron

That will definately cause a shorter tip life. The high tin in the alloy along with the higher temps are probably your culprit. We have noticed a degredation it tip life when we changed from leaded to RoHS on standard PCB's. Good Luck Chris
