You need to adjust the air kiss. The machine blows a slight amount of air after placement and it is probably adjusted too high.

Depends on a few variables. Could be the part, your profile, your paste, your stencils..... many things affect it.

Thank you Grayman. We use selective point now but I believe our throughput will be increased with a selective wave system on one of the two main boards we run. I will see if I can pull up slicks / more information on the machines you recommended.

This could happen if your angle was wrong on the machine. If its a Chinese machine then probably 4 - 5 Deg. With the wrong angle the solder will only drain in one direction instead of both. cheers greg

"..with just a few small sidetracks" Which, when you think about it, isn't bad considering it was off-topic for the forum to begin with. :P Just pullin' yer leg. Good luck finding the Holy Grail of Wave Solder Process Dudes/Dudettes.

Rather than rely on either an expensive sub-contract cleaner or 'elbow grease' try somewhere in the middle. But a standard dish washer, we did and it works perfectly.

Soltec will come in and train people at your facility, or you could send people to their facility. I found it pretty useful in a previous life.

You may want to try C8502 from Kyzen Corp. I use it on our three wave solder machines with great results diluted in DI water 50%. I am an end-user like you not a sales person! You can order free samples... -George

Hot tear occurs at the surface of the solder connection. The surface will look like someone tore the surface apart. So, it is a crack or fracture formed prior to metal solidification.
