Criteria for storing finished SMT assemblies, shelf-life?

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 11 14:20:07 EDT 2008 | pcbrown57

Is there any criteria or limitations for SMT pcba's? We have boards in stock that we built and a customer wants to know what our procedure is for "storing" these boards which will have a few through-hole modules soldered to them after they get pulled

Non-Waveable SMT Caps

Just a quick thought on solder balls "or beads" caused when using NC paste. I found a spec (12.4.10 in IPC-A-610C) that says solder beads are acceptable if they are entrapped in NC flux residue and can not be dislodged in the normal service environme

MoonMan, I'll take a crack at the list. Feel free to answer the ones I don't! 1. Solderability is a parameter which indicates how well a component can be soldered. As far as Solder Termination Coatings go, here are some ups and downs of a few. Ha

Shelf Life of Components (solderability)

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 15 21:27:18 EST 2005 | davef

Component shelf life depends on: * Solderability protection type. * Quality of process and materials used in applying solderability protection. * Duration of time from when the solderability protection was applied. * Packaging used in component stor

Neil, IPC 610 has the criteria for solder balls re. quantity and size per sq./in. These are acheivable requirements but no-clean is not necessarily a drop in process. You need to review stencil /pad /component design to ensure that "midship" solde

Does anyone out there have a wave solder troubleshooting chart in electronic form they could e-mail me? I'm about to crank up a wave solder machine here, and the chart I got several jobs ago is missing in action. Also, if anyone remembers using a
