I am looking for a way to clean solder off of QFP packages. I'm thinking a chemical method would be easy, as long as the chemistry doesn't attack the leads themselves, or the package. Any suggestions?

We heard about the Saki systems and did not receive positive feedback. They are quite fast but they miss a lot of easy defects; especially solder ones. Have you checked out a Mirtec system yet?

Sal: JAX makes good points, but Id like to think about this differently. It sounds like the poorly soldered connection is lifting the whole connector, so that termination floats on top of the solder, rather than submit to the wetting force and be

Sure. Treat it like wave solder. Top side wetting is generaly harder to achieve than wave so don't over look it. On most selective solder machine, the delta-T is also something to look out for. Most move from preheat to pot. And snce the pot por
