Hi, Dave Which brand of solder paste are you using? Is it Alphametal UP78 family? If so. According to our experience, you could try other solder pastes without any change on stencil aperture. Maybe it could work. Good luck.

Assuming you're seeing this during wave solder, the via acts like a heat pipe conducting 450�F [or whatever] air to your solder balls. Check the fine SMTnet Archives for similar threads and perspective on the direction to take.

The manufacturer says that since this solder paste has synthetic flux (not natural rosin) it is sensible to humidity. Worked with reflow profiles, but no remarkable improvements. We are changing solder paste every 2 hours.
