Inspection criteria on PIH parts

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 04 17:16:13 EDT 2004 | Richard

Can anyone comment on inspection criteria for PIH applications. I'm of the opinion that the inspection criteria used for wave soldered joints should be used for PIH. Some colleagues believe that a bottom side fillet is not necessary since the solde

Re: Pad Sizes

| I need advice on a pad design which several other engineers whom I work with would like to try. I think it is an utterly crazy but I can't seem to convince them differently. | | My current 0402 chip pad sizes on alumina and FR4 substrates are .

Help TQFP welding problem

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 16 17:20:34 EDT 2021 | astarotf

We are currently producing a project that brings a TQFP64. But some boards do not solder the component well with its ideal fillet, some are well soldered when they come out of the reflow oven, but some are not. Can the pins be sulphated? How can we c

Casimir, The Q and other lead trimmers work extremely well if properly used. Blade life is directly proportional to to the height of the cut. There are a few factors that are very important in trimming. You are working with a solid carbide blade whi

Hi, Distance Engineering is always difficult. I am guessing that the old machine and process ran wonderfully / acceptable. If you still have the old machine, how about running an empty board through it and then the new machine. Without flux observ

Solder cover

Hi, Do you have a picture on one of these leads where the solder has covered the lead ? As this is a gull wing device I wouldn't expect solder to cover it. I expect to see a toe fillet / wetting around the sides of the lead and a heel fillet. If your

Insufficient Heel Fillets on plastic 240 pin QFPs

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 22 08:54:06 EST 2001 | dblsixes

I'm not familiar with Laser Soldering. I don't believe it to be a problem with the QFP themselves, since the two plastic parts are from different vendors in the same package. We also are having similar problems with other plastic parts on other boa

Intrusive Reflow

ran an internet search on "intrusive reflow", out popped various links on the subject. Bob Willis was rather prominent on the topic's links. anyway seems intrusive reflow soldering specs are the same as conventional manual insertion (radial, axial)
