Dang Patrick, I'm going to have to agree with you again. The design needs to be corrected. This multiple footprint is a common thing nowadays but the designers need to understand the dynamics of reflow and such. PWH - Why would this mask need to

PCB BOARD - After removal of the BGA from the PCBA. In the midst of removal of the solder at the PCB, the green mask was scratched. If we do not repair the green mask, the whole board will have to be scrapped. Which repair kit do you recommend. W

I did not tried this before (never hada chance to do it) but I considered such option - maybe try using temporary wavesolder mask on such small components. Run both sides of PCB through SMT oven and then mask 0402 completely and go with wavesoldering

We have different Solder mask 'gloss' and 'satin' the gloss has a surface energy =40 dynes. The test evidence to date is strong correlation between surface energy, mask type, HASS failure

2D codes take up much less real estate so that might work. Something else we did was to go to CO2 lasers and mark directly into the solder mask. Underlying copper gave adequate contrast to the green mask. Much more of an investment, but works grea

tombstonesmt: Ammonia based masks can create solderability issues after they are removed. You can get non-ammonia based latex mask material but down side is slower cure and cost a little more as they have higher levels of latex etc
