When you say well designed for wave, does that include "extra" solder pads for the IC's for solder thieving? And Boards that are well designed for wave don't have QFP's on the bottom. They might be ok but then the board would be "ok for wave", but no

We find keeping the work environment at about 22degC and humidity to about 40-50% is the best way to control the solder balls. Before we took measures we were out of control with solder balls especially in the summer months. We run aqueous solder thr

| Hi there Chris! | Are the leads you talking about fine pitch? Is the complete fillet attached to the foot, with it being cleanly separated from the pad? I bet if you look at the board there will be via's really close to the pads at the location

A couple more things. The PCB. What size are the pads? One time a board shop had difficulty putting masking between the pads of a QFP and the pads suffered as a result. When I told them they didn't have to have masking between the pads, the pads w

| We have a new PTH board that utilizes lap pads on the B/S. Some of the pads are paired closely together and are aligned at angles (30,45,60 degrees)to the boards direction of travel through the wave. The pads most always bridge together. I realize

Mike, the one pad that is "small" definitely appears to be over etching (It looks like it was supposed to be much larger). What is the dims of this little bugger as compared to the Gerber? i would also tend to believe that there probably is some mask

IPC may help, otherwise there are many factors: Are the PTH clinched or straight? If straight, what length protrusion? What direction are the parts running thru wave? Is product on a pallet? Not to mention your soldering process: What type of mach

Hi Russ, Thanks for the reply. No this is 856, I sprayed some on boards just to try it out and noticed it dries very quickly also but if its soldered right away as would be the case in the machine, it's fine. I believe I tried some 857 and found th

You can get a better Kapton tape (you must be using the cheap stuff) that leaves no residue. If that fails then you can get edge maskers that slide overtop of the finger and they are reusable. Or you could get a solder pallet made for the assemblies

Has anyone out there tried to parylene coat plastic parts prior to soldering them to a pcb? I'm looking at several potential applications where fewer than 5% of my components on a pcb are plastic, yet from a reliability aspect (environmental conditio
