Coolingproblem in reflow profile

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 20 21:54:38 EDT 2005 | darby

Contact your paste supplier and see what they say. My information on SAC 305 FROM MY SUPPLIER was - "The cool down rate is not as critical for Pb-free solder joints, as it was for SnPb. The grain sizes do not differ is size in the Pb-free bulk solde

Poor Solderability on TSOPs with Alloy 42 Leadframes

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 29 17:38:16 EDT 2005 | GS

Several years ago, we had almost same pbm, best results have been obtained by using water soluble paste (those time the old AM1208). Any way, to get a good toe meniscus is not so easy. Talking about CTE, keep in consideration the internal die of TSO

Poor reflow over gold plating

Thanks for the replies, - solder paste used ? NC ? other ? Water soluble 63/37 paste - reflow in Air or N2 ? Infrared - temp ramp up before soack (C/second) ? Will have to check. This profile has been used on numerous gold plated boards in our

Cu dissolution PTH

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 05 10:04:59 EDT 2005 | Inds

Hi All, we are running a process where we are wave soldering the PTH components using SAC305 alloy. During rework process (using SAC alloy in the solder pot) we are seeing good amount of Cu dissolution, to an extent that the Cu has completely disapp

Cu dissolution PTH

Patrick, we were seeing a good amount of Cu-dissolution with both SAC305 and SN100C.. couldn't figure out.. till our good old vendors told us that the Cu thickness in the barrel were not correct... but anyway have started some new work with SAC30

Tombstone caused by flux residue

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 07 18:16:36 EDT 2005 | russ

What size discrete components and have you evaluated your pad geometries? If pads are too far apart this will happen. The flux resudue is simply there because you didn't solder the component. It will stay on top of the solder bump. You can see this

PCB finish for RoHS?

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 04 12:40:38 EDT 2005 | Ted

Hi all, I am wondering what everyone is using as a PCB finish for RoHS. There doesn't seem to be a favorite out there. I know there are many companies using a gold finish but I don't want to pay that much and I have also heard about reliability p

Guys, I have a 2.4mm pcb 8layer with a lot of copper on board. I am having some problems with solder not travelling up through the holes. Looking from the bottom of the board it looks fine . Also, To measure temp. of board through preheat zones

Manncorp Wave Solder

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 11 16:25:27 EDT 2005 | pjc

Just be careful on preheat. They tend to be weak on those small low cost machines. How well they work for you depends on what type of boards you plan to run. Large thick boards or high thermal mass boards will not likley run too well. Take boards to

White Residues

Peter: Questions are: * From your pictures, the white residue appears to be only on the solder mask. Is that correct? If not, what is the location [eg, solder, nonsolder/nonmask areas] of the residue that doesn't show well in the pictures? Further,
