Why do you want to increase the strength of the solder connection? Our experience shows that a proper solder connection has more strength than the strength of the pad to the laminate.

Yes, your strength of the joint is in the intermetallic, and not additional solder. Solder ain't like duct tape, where the more you put, the better it'll hold.

What is your solder pot temperature? We found that on a 0.093" multilayer board increasing the temp of the lead free solder from 300C to 315C helped with the barrel fill.

Questions are: * When you rework these pads, can you get solder to flow on the pads with a soldering iron? * When you profile the board during reflow, what is the temperature on these pads as compared with other similar pads in the vicinity?

Are your solder relief pads connected to anything in terms of ground planes that would increase the thermal load or are they floating copper? I take it your talking about wave solder relief pads?

I was wondering how I would program the Mirtec MV-3L for through hole solder? Do I need to bring in the solder mask file? or can I do manually? Thanks

The bare pcb has lead HASL finish. Components are lead-free and lead-free solder was used to solder the plate-through components. Is this acceptable or will there be reliability issues?

We have been using SN100C in our RPS Rhythm selective solder machine since we bought it in 2008 with good success. No issues with the solder pot. We are setting the pot temperature to 300C.

You could always take a scrap board, paste it, and let it sit out over night. Reflow it and then you should have a nice visual aid, covered in solder balls and grainy, irregularly shaped solder mounds.
