"Although some lead-free pastes performed adequately and newer pastes work better than earlier formulations, this detailed experiment confirmed that tin/lead solder pastes wet back to PCB pads better than lead-free solder pastes. Therefore, a more ac

Time to retire the wave?

Hi, We have a soltec wave, and apart from the really bad software running it, I am wondering if it's time to replace it with selective soldering, which will use less solder, and much less power than a wave. What is a good inline replacement for a w

Homeplate design

Hi Folks, I hope someone can help me, Is the homeplate stencil design (for reduced solder paste) the same for preventing solder balls as it is for reducing tombstones? i.e. the reduction of solder paste under the component termination. I'm trying to

is there any standard gap between the terminal and pad if we place the glue? SMT-4 mention as per what you understand which is using glue at SMT without solder paste and run at wave solder for the solder paste at the terminal. Glue supplier recomm

J-STD-006 lists maximum contamination levels for most solder alloys. This is the basis for purchasing solder. The SOLDER BATH contamination levels in J-STD-001 are based on decades of experience. But these contamination thresholds of various metals

Well, it wasn't as easy to figure out the root cause. The last image is below. It shows how the board finish looks like (the trace was under solder mask). AS you can see, the layer of E-Ni is spliting (the board shop admitted the problem afterwards).
