Sounds like you are running your conveyor too fast. Check your profile and see if your board is getting hot enough "max 125c on topside prior to hitting the wave. If so then slow it down, if not then increase your preheats and slow it down.

Hi Brian, Here is the web address for Indium. If you go to the "technical papers" and then to "specialty solders and alloys" they have a really great chart that has all the alloy specs. Well worth printing. ........Jeff Sanchez

Hi John, Thanks to your reply, just one question is it possible that the solder paste ( flux material )applied to the pads cause the non-wet. regards Chris

Chris: You can have more than "one question!!!" Anyhow, yes crappy solder paste can cause non-wetting, but before you go there understand why the paste is wetting some surfaces, but not others. Ta Dave F

Check out Panasonic FA (Soft Beam) think they might be able to provide you with additional information. Just my two cents.

All, I am having a problem with joints being soft after SMT. Especially 25 mil and smaller parts. It seems as though you can slide the leads right off of the solder. It takes only about 30-40 oz. of compression at 45 deg. to move leads off of join

I was hoping to find a book that delt primarily on solderability of different metals, fluxes that are compatible with certain pastes and anything else along those line.

Is it possible for flux to evaporate out of the solder paste, and how long would it take? What kind of effect would this have on reflow if all the flux evaporated?
