Ted, We've tried using dispensing systems but without success. We either use stencils or bump the pads with solder. Stencils are messy and time consuming, but seem to be the best thing going. Jeff Ferry Circuit Technology Center

SERA and ROSA

Anyone have information on the ROSA Technique? It is a derivative of the SERA analysis for solder-ability on pads, (they are not italian sisters)I belive the techniques were developed by Rockwell and Motorola. thanks in advance. JKK

Reduced Oxide Soldering Activation is an electrochemical method of restoring the solderability of surfaces. Searching the archives of IPC technet and this forum will reveal more details. John Thorup

I'm with John. Back in the old MIL-2000 days, the pot temperature was 245-275C (475-525F). Now, 240-260C (460-480 F) is more accepted for eutechic (eutechicish) solder. My2� Dave F

Hi Carol, does that happen also when you solder them with an iron ? That�s what I did with some joints using hightemp solderwire and couldn�t notice anything you mentioned. What Brian and Dave said should be worth considering. good luck Wolfgang
