Watch the solder profiles allowed for these caps. Most electrolytics cannot withstand high heat. Even RoHS compliant Electrolytics are often rated for peak 245C, 3 secs max, for example. Nowhere close to the 260C 10-20 sec you usually like to see.

Hello everybody, I have been asked to establish a way to improve our wave solder process. I wonder where I should start. We collect data by inspecting our PCB's visually. What's the best way to report data? Ocurrence of defects in total among all

Robert McKeown Company makes thermally conduct Al tape. KIC did a study on which method (Kapton Tape, Aluminum Tape, Hi-Temp Solder) is the most repeatable. The study can be found in their website: http://www.kicthermal.com Al Tape placed 2nd, and

Hi Ive checked into this a bit more, there are two coatings im told you can get one is a teflon coating that you paint on then bake, the other is a red oxide (lead free) paint. Also if your using solder pots and they are close grain cast iron they a

Hello John, There are some coatings for aluminum to eliminate solder drag out. The do not work with all fluxes it is called hardcoat anodized it is black or geen in color. Unless you have faily high volumn the hard coat cost can be as high as titan

Hi Everyone, I am in the process of selcting a new wave solder machine for our small company. We currently run 2 Technical Devices (18" Nu Era Jr. dual wave). I considered converting one to Lead free. It seems for alittle more we could have a machin

We have a customer transitioning slowly to lead free due to necessity rather than a need to comply i.e. some of their BGAs can only be purchased Pb free only. So for this we would want to produce them a leadfree soldered PCB (not necessarly RoHS comp

Billy, I have to disagree with you. We inadvertently soldered a Pb BGA with SAC305 paste and then had it micro sectioned and spectrum analyzed. Imagine our surprise when we saw the spectrum analysis showed Pb. The micro sections showed none to ac

The Novastar is primarily a low end machine made in India, I think. Technical Devices is more comparable with other dedicated wave soldering machine manufacturers. I recently got a good deal on a new TD machine with a Titanium Pot and Pump. It was

Hi Fellas After bangin my head several times on the cold and hot solder pot nothing improoved. The residues still bother my customer. I agree with less is better but if we apply less we have a cleaner board but the solder won't flow all the way up.
