Micro crack for lead free wave solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 10 13:31:05 EDT 2005 | patrickbruneel

Joseph, In addition to my previous post The reason why the cracks are most visible at the transformer location is due to the weight of the transformer. The stress on the boards is the highest because the weight of the transformer will warp the board

ENIG switch contacts

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 08 10:27:15 EDT 2005 | russ

I am a contract Mfgr. and we receive these designs quite frequently. ENIG is the finish and the designs do utilize pushbutton switches from membranes. I am not provvy to any reliability or performance data but we process alot of these designs. If

Hand Soldering-Mixing Sn63 and L-F Processes

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 11 07:41:55 EDT 2005 | rsmith@z-mar.com

I do recommend dedicated tips and dedicated workstations. Make sure that your tips come in with no lead in the tinning. There is a new, green heat resistant table mat that is being used in the industry to identify lead free areas. If operators see gr

kapton dots and liquid solder mask

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 09 10:01:26 EDT 2005 | pr

We have some large plated through holes, that we protect with hand placed Kapton dots before they go into the wave. Is there a better option? We are going to see if the boardhouse can put them on for us but I was curious how others are/would do this.

kapton dots and liquid solder mask

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 09 11:56:01 EDT 2005 | Rob

We sometimes use a peelable mask the the PCB manufacturer (board house) adds as part of their process. It may seem an expensive option but avoids: Raising P/o's for tape/peelable mask as consumables booking & inspection Booking out to the shop floo

kapton dots and liquid solder mask

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 10 12:05:11 EDT 2005 | Rob

Hi Pr, No idea what the material is - we haven't usd it for a while now, but it was flush & didn't cause any printing problems on double sided reflow. Your board house should know all about it - I would suggest some but ours are all UK or China/Tai

cleaning of no clean flux

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 10 07:55:21 EDT 2005 | ajaydoshi

we are using heareous F381, F352 no clean solder paste. specially in qfp for high frequency board we observe that cleaing / removing of ' no clean flux 'is require. if we do not clean same most of time after all test & envioumental test it shows pin

Recommended max board temp for BGA repair

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 10 14:56:03 EDT 2005 | pjc

"Too Hot" is any more heat than what is needed to reflow the solder. You should have the Auto-Profile software for the machine, this will accurately monitor and record temps. There is also port for the component itself to monitor package temp. There

Solder Wave

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 11 16:24:11 EDT 2005 | russ

You are not correct in assuming bot side temp as related to top side. This is entirely dependant upont the board. e.g. a PCB that is .4mm thick will almost be exactly the same temp top and bottom whereas this 2.4mm will be significantly less at the

omniflow 5 iemme 760

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 11 16:20:54 EDT 2005 | pjc

I have seen good results on OmniFlo 5 for Pb Free solderpastes PROVIDED the boards are low to medium thermal mass and have no high conveyor speed (high production) requirements. Max peak temp you can set on O5 is 280C, enough to get 230C on-board tem
