I assume your problem is comming from the carrier. If it is so: 1. use carrier from another material 2. Use solder paste that handles faster profile Good luck!

Hello, We are having issues to solder components. We investigate the issue and found that the pads were having extra gold on the sides. Is it normal? Can we remove this gold 'bleeding from our PCB?' Thanks

Looks to me like under etching of the underlying copper and the gold is just plated to all of the exposed copper surface. Is this characteristic the same on all solderable pads? You will not be able to remove this gold.

We would agree with Pete B about both the under etching as a possible issue and you will not be able to remove this gold. Another possibility is the solder mask (plating resist) hasn't been taken right to the edge of the pad.

Solvent makes me think of dissolve which leads me to cleaning something. If you are trying to clean stencils, blades, etc. try this link to the product we use: http://www.techspray.com/product-info.php?pId=3&cId=17

PCB Supplier made an EDX anaysis, the found a chemical trapped in the holes, and some burnt burrs, according to what they say this stains are over the solder mask & silk, so they do not affect functionality.

Are the conditions (Bullets) under the IPC Acceptable and Defect sections "ANDs" or "ORs"? In other words, does every condition under a section must be meet to be Acceptable/Defect or meeting any one condition suffices?

Does anyone have advice about the best low volume (hopefully under $10K) reflow system for SN96 or SAC305 solder? We recently purchased a benchtop IR oven and it is not working well. Jim

What type of flux material does your solder paste have? I have seen difficulties when attempting to print small apertures with water washable and rosin types. Do you get a good first print and then have problems or is it the same from the start?

Yes, the standard applies to things that are soldered. Read this ipc.org/TOC/J-STD-002C.pdf BR, davef
