Modems reflow mistake

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 16 12:41:29 EDT 2015 | deanm

Do you have a solderable surface (walls)? It looks like most walls have a silver arc at the top but some do not (especially the last link) which I interpret that it has been plated (in most cases). Is it possible that the component does not have suff

Reflow Solder REsults

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 13 13:00:14 EST 2016 | anvil1021

We are experiencing a few issues every now and then with acceptable reflow results? We have changed solder paste, thus reflow profile types and even reflow ovens but we still seem to get some not so good reflow on certain pcbs. We can even take PCBs

What will be the effect of additional solder paste?

We are using Vicor SMT J-Lead VI Chip which is big component on the bottom side. The manufacturer recommends to have 6 mil stencil but the customer required 10 mil stencil. The PWB has gold contacts on both sides. We noticed some mini solder splashes

Wave Solder Bean Bags

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 07 12:50:16 EDT 2016 | deanm

I remember doing that back in the day. We not only used bags but also wood planks. It was an old solder-cut-solder process without any top side preheaters. I wouldn't do it today because the bags would interfere with the top side preheat let alone a

ENIG (thru hole ring turns black after wave soldering)

On a previous black pad experience we soldered a wire to a fiducial and did a pull test to failure. On the black pad board the wire and solder pulled of clean leaving the fiducial on the board. On good boards the copper came off with the wire. If you

Solder balling under passives

Hi guys, Problem: Mid chip solder balling. Component affected: 0603 caps only Defect is PCB specific (Meaning only one PCB is affected as the aperture is standard for that component). As a containment I'll give a home plate design for the compo

Delta wave solder

Electronics Forum | Sat Oct 08 04:24:37 EDT 2016 | aaronpainter

We are having an issue with the solder bars hanging the solder feeder dripping down the back side of the pot, and leaking in to the area where the terminal block for the elements on the pot are. We have tried aluminum tape to close off the gap betwee

Switching to SN100C in wave solder machine

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 23 16:24:26 EST 2016 | misterblonde

Hello, I am new to this forum, and was hoping to get some advice/information from those of you that have switched your wave soldering machine to SN100C. I have read some old threads about people having great success with SN100C. My question is- w
